This is a issue that many people may not know about but Mcdonalds in New Zealand is they are trying to build some of their 30 new Mcdonald’s Restaurants next to Residential Houses throughout New Zealand.

So far their are fights against Mcdonalds plans in Balmoral Auckland , Queenstown , Mosgiel to name a few.

Something that people dont understand is that most of the people against it are only against it going next to Residential Propertys not going in at the town. Why cant Mcdonalds “a company that made over 20 Million in Profit last year” find suitable locations that are not right next to peoples Residential propertys?

In a effort in which I think is to save money they are buying right next to houses. Is the amount they save out weight the amount they have to spend fighting to put their new Fast Food Restaurants right next to houses?

Below is some links to articles on various Mcdonalds fights going on around the country.

Now for some that argue including Mcdonalds the jobs that will be created by Mcdonalds. Which in my mind is ok but why should be at the expense of residential property owners. Lets look at how Mcdonalds are getting funding for some of their new jobs that they create please see the link below

Opinion piece by politicalnz.blogspot.com

(update 25th March 2010 ) as far as I am aware heavy equipment is in Hartstonge Ave to reseal the road. This equipment is not working on the proposed Mcdonalds mosgiel site.

No building has commenced as yet on any Mcdonalds Restaurant in Hartstonge ave and Mcdonalds have not laid any appeal on any or the 17 or 18 conditions on their resouce consent.

(update 14th April) Roading work is completed on Hartstonge Ave Mosgiel and all roading equipment is gone from the section of the proposed Mcdonalds Mosgiel site.

(update 27th April) Still no sign of any Mcdonalds on the Hartstonge Ave Mosgiel site. After such a effort and campaign they have lodged to get it there you would think they would want to build their Mcdonalds Straight away?

Over the past year I have enjoyed working with some of Dunedin and New Zealand’s great car dealers and I have enjoyed traveling throughout New Zealand for work and attending various events and Sharing with people my experience’s over recent years something that often come up is Internet advertising. Times are tough for the car industry at the moment that is why it is even more important now more than ever that the car industry moves towards more cost effective advertising.

Here at Anngow Marketing we not only look at whether your site is visable but whether you are sending the right message to consumers visiting your website.

The Internet over recent years has changed the face of adverting and will continue to grow even larger into the future.

The Internet has even been effective in recent political elections both here and overseas.

Many Car Dealerships use Radio advertising as a form of branding and to get the message out about upcoming sales etc

However it is important that you tie in your radio message with your website after all most radio ad slots are either 15 seconds or 30 seconds in that time you may not be able to fit all your message in that is why it is important to keep your website up to date with the latest sales events etc.

in the past I have had great success linking my radio ad to a website.

If you want advice on this please feel free to call me as I have gone through this process from start to finish including voicing ads.

I just want to write about a clear misunderstanding when it comes to how dealerships judge Internet sales

many may only consider a Internet sale one that has begun by a email well throughout the world and in New Zealand many locals will also look on the Internet before going into the store or car yard.

A Internet Sale is not just a email it can be a phone call from seeing it on a website it can be seeing a product and then going into the store the next day or the next month.

Whats news with carbuying.co.nz car buying is looking to expand over the next year and will be soon launching a Marketing campaign for its new ideas for car buying in New Zealand. Car buying does not try to sell other forms of Marketing like Newspapers and can therefore have full flexibility to bring improvements to the car buying process that may surprise some people.

I am looking forward to getting car dealers on board for what will a be a unique advertising platform for selling cars.

Carbuying.co.nz will not be like some other mainstream media sources have been i.e. newspapers and others it will be clearly independent and will not just be an agent of just one motor group or type of car it will be fully independent.

I can’t reveal too much but what I can say is the car buying public will find the expanded carbuying site very useful in their car buying experience.

Car companies throughout New Zealand look at using the internet in there business however most businesses don’t look at the internet as a large sales tool.

At Anngow Marketing we have experience on Both sides of the fence both on the technical side and on the sales side.

Most Websites are set up on the technical side but are not very good at converting visitors into customers.

If you don’t have that aim then it could be a very expensive setting up a new website up for minimal sales results. Its understandable that New Zealand has not progressed as much as it should or could have in internet sales many dont have true systems in place to measure current success. Internet speeds have been slow.

And New Zealand has always had most major sales websites owned by media company’s that have a interest in insuring they still get advertisers for there other forms of advertising.

There are many country’s however that have used the internet as a effective sales tool for example the USA and Uk. New Zealand may change very soon.

Is the internet used in the car buying process in NZ as much as it is in other countries around the world like The UK and the USA?

I believe from my research of car buying trends in NZ that is being used more and has been steadily growing over the last 8 years.

So the logical question to ask is why do car buyers use the internet when researching New and used cars.

1. Ease of information. It is much easier to search through information on the internet to be able to make a more informed purchasing decision than it is in any other medium like Newspapers , Magazines etc

2. More photos enabling the people to view the vehicle quickly before making a decision to go in and view the vehicle in person

3. People believe in many cases they are going to come out better because they have spent allot more time researching the many different vehicles and prices in NZ.

4. A easy factor being able to view a vehicle without having to go out in the cold and drive around browsing through different car dealers which can sometimes be a time consuming process

Now with some of these points in mind think if you where looking to buy a car what would you do?

If your answer reflects the 4 points above then contact me today to see how I can help you Market to where the customers are.
